When Thinking of a Domain Name, Dont Make the Same Mistake I Did
2 domain names/sites in the last 2 months jacked from me by trademark infringement lawyers.
The domain included the company brand name in it to boost Search Engine Optimization on keywords.
Roughly $1200 in monthly income down the can.
Joy.

Sorry to hear that. Can you give any details? It might be an interesting lesson for some of the people on this forum.

Sounds like the same thing that happened to calvin ayre with his billion dollar company, bodog.com - A patent troll came and claimed the domain off him, worth many millions if i remember. Luckily, he's basically brought his business back to where it was with bodoglife.com

This is basically what happend to me for two sites.
I found out Google is now recognizing 301 permanent redirects now, so you can just move the site to a new domain that doesn't infringe trademark and you will keep some of your rankings (hopefully).

Yes, this is a frequent problem. The courts have ruled and enforcing it. It's a good thing to learn early in your career though. There are now even issues on domain owners who seemingly have no Trademark issues but have lost their domain names because they sat on the domain names on parked sites and left them undeveloped, leaving them open to a Trademark judgment against them.
