Hi I am an Independent Plumbing Contractor in California and am Starting up a company, I have been working unlicensed for years but just finally decided to get my c-36(plumbing contractor License.)
Any way i am thinking of changing the name of my business (it is currently just my name ) and was wondering if I should establish it as an LLC or would it be easy to add that at a later date. I do not presently own any property, or have any employees so i dont really have any thing to take but would like to establish this company towards growth and the slight possibility of selling it in the future, and am wondering?
1) should I get an LLc or S-corp and is it worth it at this point( i noticed their is a minimum $ 800 tax fee)
2) how hard is it to change an existing business to an LLC once I am operating under a business name
3) What are the benefits/ drawbacks to being an LLC /S corp (besides liabiltiy)
thanks,
any input is greatly appreciated
Sharinku
