Selling items with Collge logos on it

I just had a stroke of genius but it involves putting college team logos on a product.

What are some of the loops I would have to jump through to do this?

    TIA,
    JD

Biggest thing to get past would be all the other businesses doing this... do you mean printing a logo onto an item to promote, in this case, a college team? That is something which can already be done very easily and cheaply by printing companies, or is your idea different?

Not sure how to give ideas of any limitations because your description is very vague.. what are you putting the logo onto?

Ah ok, this would be quite easily done, by selecting the car covers you would like to use, then going to a local or foreign (China) printing company to have the logo printed onto it.
Many manufacturers (eg. of car covers) in China will be able to add anything you want onto a product, so you could get it done all in the one place.

As for selling them, maybe enquire about getting a booth at the big events or games at the college(s) and sell them that way.

Cant see too many boundaries in place that would stop you doing this, it seems pretty straight forward

Actually, you may need to ask the college's permission to use their logo on your products, and they may want to see the quality of your product. This is due to the fact that if your products were bad quality, it would give their logo/college a bad image, though you will only know if you ask them directly

It's against the law to do it without the permission of the "logo" owner. Period.

ummm, you need a licensing agreement with each college you want to use.

just like when Crocs made their shoes with colleges on them, they had a licensing agreement which pays the colleges.

The things that are hot right now are the presidential elections stuff on products, like shirts, buttons, bumper stickers. They are going like crazy, Obama/Biden and McCain/Palin!

Virtually every college logo is managed my a company called CLC. You can check out the website at http://www.clc.com

They will tell you what you can and can't do, plus how much it will cost.

They are not the easiest company to deal with...and it is tough to get some ideas past them without a significant amount of development and sampling done for the product.

Check out the website and it will help.

Some college logos arent even owned by the colleges! They pay royalties to other owners.
