Is my Craigslist Advert Going to Cause Problems

    Hey folks,

I think my question is more with regards to Craigslist terms and conditions rather than an actual legal question so I hope this is the correct place for this posting.

    I have a new website : http://www.citizenshipper.com

that is essentially a freelance courier site. Anyone can sign up to make deliveries.

I am advertising it in the Craiglist Jobs posting section with the heading 'Drivers Needed!'

I am concerned that this might go against the terms and Conditions of the Craiglist postings as I'm not actually offering a job, and something that caught my eye was in the terms and conditions where it stated that users would be charged $3000 a day for each day a post was up which did not conform with there terms.

Does anyone have any comments or suggestions?

    Thanks!

I would temporarily delete my post, using the e-mal you were initially sent, and then contact them here:

    sfbay.craigslist .org/cgi-bin/ emailForm.cgi

    take out the spaces...

    Hi,

Thanks muz4k, so just to clarify, you are suggesting I contact them to check that the add is ok?

Could you provide a specific reference to their ToS that states what you are worried about? I am only finding one reference to $3000 and it does not appear to apply to your situation in the slightest way.

I've never heard of that, but I would check just to be sure. On a side note, your "resources" link on your homepage is way on the bottom left with no design or anything (I'm using FF3)

Good luck getting a reply from CL. I've asked them terms of use questions in the past with nothing but an automated reply that didn't really address my question.

Nobody wants to get stuck with a $3000 fine, but in all honesty I doubt Craigslist would or could enforce such a thing. It is an opportunity for employment, technically speaking, so I think you're fine.

Thanks for letting me know. I had the website designed by a pro, but didn't add a resource link. I was just playing around with what I could do myself with my limited HTML. I'll get something pretty soon.

Well, in the guidelines on https://post.craigslist.org/hou/J

"all job ads must offer monetary compensation -- no unpaid internships, barters, deferred pay, etc." and

"please do not post the same job description to multiple categories or cities."

    and then on https://post.craigslist.org/hou/J/tr...sMS2lClw/yi66b

"f. If you aggregate, display, copy, duplicate, reproduce, or otherwise exploit for any purpose any Content (except for your own Content) in violation of these Terms without craigslist's express written permission, you agree to pay craigslist three thousand dollars ($3,000) for each day on which you engage in such conduct."

My 'job' isn't going to pay compensation, its more a freelance courier service so I sps thats what I was worried about, but I'm prob just being too cautious.

Wow! I never knew about the $3000/day thing. I know I posted a few things on there about 6 months ago that got flagged but they never sent me anything saying I had to pay $3000/day. If that's a rule that they actually enforce then I wouldn't take my chances if I were you.
