How Businesses Can Keep out of Legal Trouble!

The sound advice and consultation given to you by attorneys helps people take the necessary steps to detect and resolve any potential legal problems before they take more dangerous proportions.

This is called in legal jargon “therapeutic jurisprudence” or “preventive law”. Just as preventive medicine helps prevent disease by detecting their symptoms, preventive law helps prevent serious legal consequences by detecting early problems.

In an increasingly litigious society, there is real concern that assets you have worked long and hard to accumulate may be attacked by creditors and litigants, through no fault of your own. By the time a potential claim or liability is identified, it is too late to act.

A competent attorney’s advice is your best option to minimize your exposure to potential risks and protect yourself from legal problems getting out of hand.

Unfortunately, far too many businesses deal with their legal problems like average individuals.

Disclaimer: This is an opinion from an individual and should not be construed as legal advice. If you want legal advice to verify this opinion, please consult an attorney.

    Just two questions:

Where are these terms from? "Therapeutic jurisprudence?" In four years of law school, I never heard that term once.

Also, what is a certified attorney? How does an attorney get certified? I'm unaware of such a thing.

No, he's not. Although I am intrigued by the interest in multiple legal posts by a non-attorney.

Actually I am not, but I am someone who has access to an attorney to answer all of the questions posted here. I do understand the need for small business to retain legal counsel since many of them have many legalities involved in thier business. Do you agree or do you think only corporations should retain attorneys?

What is the main disclaimer on all free legal advice boards? If you want legal advice consult an attorney. They are not attorneys. There a plenty of sincere attorneys around, I hope you use one to keep yourself out of trouble.

I am not an attorney and please do not construe my opinion as legal advice. However, I am amazed that you question my credentials and not the credentials of people offering legal opinions on this forum. If you want the credentials of the authors of the advice I am sharing with others, please let me know.

For your information, I am middle class American who has read many legal articles in college and understands that small businesses are at high risk of lawsuits. I personally feel that many small business should retain an attorney OR invest in a legal plan for their legal protection. I am client of a legal plan and a legal services broker. I can easily provide this informatoin to anyone who is interested in looking at it.

I hope you don't think any of my facts are overexaggerated to make a sale. Again, I did mention my intent is to share information that will hopefully influence as many businesses owners to either retain an attorney or obtain a discounted legal service.

    Thanks for your intrigue!

Thanks for pointing that out. That is stupid wording. I edited the message. By the way I want to tell you my agenda again. I am sure you probably think I have one and I do. It is to present a view that points out that many small businesses are doing themselves a disservice by not retaining an attorney. As a someone who went four years to law school, you very likely agree. Do you have trouble understanding the message? I mentioned my intention of the message. So I guess you are an attorney?

One thing I do wonder about with potential legal problems is taxes. How do you know when you have to pay quarterly taxes if you're self-employed? Is it for every sole proprietorship, or is there an income threshold?
