Why PR is very beneficial for internet marketing?

Today internet marketing become very popular and high. But what is the benefit of PR? If you know than please reply me.

PR does not have the Kudos it once had a few years back,the main thing that i am interested in are visitors as these are the vital life blood of any website,the only advantage that i can see a PR has is if you either sell links or are about to sell a site and you can command a higher price but even selling links is frowned upon by google these days,i would rather have a site with zero or a low PR but plenty of visitors over a site with a higher PR but low in visitors.
