Seeking advice on marketing my work to online sellers

New member here, thanks in advance.

I sell my downloadable woodworking plans on my new website and have been approached by several quality companies proposing to market them on their's as well. My plans are unique to the online market and developed from a successful career authoring project books since 1993.

I am uncertain about the appropriate split for providing them with my downloads which would sell for approx. $9.00US on their website. COGS and other traditional means of helping to calculate this are new for me in the online sales context.

I'm sure each arrangement is unique but looking for basic guidelines for what each of us would receive as percentage of sales and if it differs greatly from marketing products in the retail world. Referrals to similar threads would be fine as well.

Again thanks in advance for your comments!

It sounds to me that they are asking to be an online affiliate. You could research the average percentage that online affiliates get for a sale. It wouldn't be similar to retail where most retailers buy wholesale and then double the price, unless of course you sell them the rights. Hope this helps.

    Thanks

    Very useful.

It's interesting that they won't allow me to be an affiliate on their site due to our North Carolina statues but are happy to be my affiliate from Georgia. This is of course due to state laws, all OK by me.

Will research online affiliates, average % thanks again for the advice,

    Kevin

The foundations of any internet marketing strategy should be dictated by your overall business objectives and focus on the three core areas:
    • Consolidation – meeting the demands of existing customers
    • Growth – targeting and attracting new business
    • Efficiency – maximizing return on investment (ROI)
I hope you like these suggestions. It will really help you. Thanks
