It's been in development for almost a year, but today SBD 5.0 has finally been released - along with our new website. It's the largest update to the script since the initial release roughly five years ago. There's a whole list of features added to the new release (see our website) but as a directory owner myself my favorite features are;
- Web 2.0 Submission Queue. Review, accept, delete, edit or ban up to 100 listings individually without having to refresh/reload the page. Most general directory owners know how tedious and time consuming the review-process takes, & this is aimed at speeding it up by cutting down unnecessary waiting time.
- Custom fields-Per-Category. Allows you to assign custom fields to specific categories, ie - portfolio images for a Web Design category, RSS feeds for a News Directory. This in affect lets you run a General Directory with the relevance of a Niche directory.
- Link Management System . Lets you assign functions to the above without needing to edit source code, or add plugins. For example, you can ask for an RSS Feed URL, Image, Deep Link, Twitter UserID, etc with the above, and then assign the relevant function to it. There's no limit to what functions you can assign as it allows you to enter CustomPHP or CustomHTML.
- Paypal IPN. The script now uses Paypal's Instant Payment Notification to make sure paid listings wont show up in the queue unless a payment has been made.
- Plugins & Templates. A larger range of these will be developed in the coming weeks and months, but the SBD script allows you to install these in an extremely easy fashion - much like how they work with Wordpress, etc.
As part of releasing the script our website has been completely re-designed and re-created. We now have a forum, support ticket system, knowledge base/faq, blog and members area to help get support to those who need it quicker and easier - and to keep everyone informed
SBD 5.0 is $20 with a link-back or $35.00 to remove the link. We also do installation & database migration as part of some of the packages offered, or this can be purchased separately.
