Referral marketing.
A big part of my business (franchise placement and recruiting) is my referral program. I have found that the leads that I get from referrals are about 10x more likely to close than purchased leads from an internet source. However, to get referral leads, you have to make sure you do a couple of things.
1. Excellent customer service. This means that you have to be better than the best, and take care of your clients, even after they have closed a deal or you no longer deal with them. Keep in touch with them. Check in on them. You can't go wrong when you at least make an effort to be MORE than just a business contact to them.
2. Follow up. Always follow up with you customers as you say you would. It is even suggested to go above and beyond. Send them a nice gift, send them a hand written letter or card. This will keep you fresh in their mind, and they will remember how good your customer service is. They won't hesitate to share your information if you have excellent customer service.
3. Incentivize. Offer your customers a discount on future services, or a nice gift, or cash in exchange for a closed referral.
3. ASK. If you don't ask for referrals, you probably won't get them. People have to know that you are in the business of getting referrals in order to give you them. You should always ask, "Hey, do you know anyone that is in need of my services?".
My referral incentive is available to anyone (including you!). I always tell people, if you know anybody that is looking to start a business, buy a business, or invest in a franchise - send them to me! If I close a deal with them, I will pay you $1000 cash.
That goes for you too. If you know anybody (family member, friend, coworker, etc.) that is looking to buy, start or invest in a business, get in touch with me. If I am able to find a good fit for them in a franchise system, I will pay you $1000.

Referral marketing is a method of internet marketing that relies on gaining new customers by referrals, usually through word of mouth. Referral marketing is done by encouraging, informing, promoting and rewarding customers and contacts to think and talk as much as possible about their supplier, their company, product and service and the value and benefit the supplier brings to them and people they know. Referral marketing shares referrals, ideas, information and support.
