Research reveals that Pinterest helps drive more traffic to websites as compared to other social media like Google plus, LinkedIn and YouTube. The best way to drive traffic to your site through Pinterest is to select top blog posts for pinning. Use the pin it button for your blog post and pinning images. This will generate a image credit to your site and get you link back to your site.

Profit depends on how much followers do you have. It is harderst part of Pinterest to get a lot of followers.

I agree with Johan. The biggest effort is to build the list of followers, which takes time.

First, you need to determine first whether Pinterest is a good match for your business.

Keywords and content - be sure to add keyword rich description to your about section and your board names. This will help with visibility in search engines and when people come searching the particular topics.
Images - you want to be able to capture your visitors attention, be unique and provide good content
Pin it button - Add the Pin It button to your website, this way its easy as possible for users to Pin
Stay involved - provide value back to others and it will come back to you

    Hope this helps...

The simplest technique to attracting 'pinterest' is to use the images links and connect them to other rich content of your site. Load images (at least 5) every 3 days to bring the amount of traffic to your site. Now, this is where I get a little cryptic but using sites like Alexa, Quantcast and Buzzfeed can really help drive the followers who are in search of the information you may provide. It is a numbers game: views + followers = possible frequent traffic/sales/conversions etc.,

Pin the most famous and happening boards and then socially share it.
It will generate enough traffic for you to be happy.
    Best of luck!

Pinterest is mostly image related so Pin very high quality/trendy images of your products, or your blog posts.
