    Negative side of forum posting

A common method of forum posting is to pay someone to sign up with as many forums as possible and make a post something like this: " Check out this great website: [link] ". Sometimes a link isn't even used and only the url included as text in the message.
There are numerous mistakes there: The topic of the forum often has nothing to do with the topic of the website being promoted The text "check out this great website" won't interest anyone in anything Not including a link , no one will cut and paste a url from a text message.
Including a link , the message is uninteresting and the link is probably out of context. No one will click. Any SEO benefits will be marginal at best
Just one of these mistakes would defeat all your efforts, but too many people make all the above mistakes at once.

katereber, thanks for that great advice. I agree 100% with your thoughts. Forum posting should be focused and calculating. Your posts should really be targeted to your core audience. Also, I have found that it has been more effective if you do not attempt to sell your products/services in the forum. Most people that join forums are genuinely trying to get/give valuable information. Selling to them sometimes turns them off from the forum and eliminates some valuable resources. Instead, I believe you should offer sound advice which will lead people to you through intrigue.

I think, though, that sometimes it is difficult to get feedback on your developments without posting an actual link... maybe there are times when it's necessary

Forum posting is best way to get backlinks and more traffic. And also it is fast effective. But some time is possible to problem of banned. If you do forum constantly and regularly in same site then google may band you. That's very bad effect on you business and problem of IP banned. Google consider you spam some time. So legaly and quality forum posting is best for getting good traffic.

Forum posting can be precarious no matter what you do. I would never recommend using an outside company to post on forums for you. First off, you pretty much give up your control. If you post heavy on a black hat forum, you risk your website being looked at unfavorably by search engines or at best, spun your wheels for little to no results.

As it is nearly impossible to start a company, or have a category that doesn't have literally thousands of forums that could associate with it, you would be better to do a bit of work yourself and gain a name in that forum before you began your onslaught of back-links.

I'll post up an article on it here for people shortly. I'm sure some people will argue the point, but I have the track record to back it up.

I agree katereber, joining in forum is not all about to leaving a link, specially if we don't have connection in your promoting site. Now I know the negative side of leaving a link is effortless way.

Forum posting may fail a lot. I don't know what's wrong with their website. One moment you see your post, the next thing you'll know is its gone. The administrators should have informed the users if they delete a post or so.
