    Marketing a Website Design Company?

I'm looking for ideas which I can use to market my upcoming Website Design Company.

We will be using Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and also advertising on forums such as this one.

Do you have any good techniques?

    Thanks,
    Kyle.

I would say SEO but for a web design firm that's a pretty saturated field. SMO helps a lot as you mentioned for any business. Focus on local business clients. This will lead to natural word-of-mouth marketing and it's free to you and very effective as you have powerful business people recommending your firm to others in the area.

Don't go the Facebook advertising route unless you know what you're doing, but definitely create a business page and optimize it. Post often and stay active among clients and fans.

I started a web design company a number of years ago. Printed some ad cards. Walked to factory areas and in my first day sold 5 websites. Didn't even have a designer on my team at that time. The key is do what everybody else is not doing. Humans love dealing with humans - and seriously - email and even social media can at times be overdone. Don't follow the crowd. Be a leader and success will follow.

And to add to that I am in the process now of selling off part of my company.....and people told me I wouldn't get what I have...and that I couldn't get such a response from the marketing strategy that I used.....64 enquiries....2 serious offers later and now the contracts being prepared.....I'm glad I don't listen to the naysayers. Be the same. You can do it!

Question: why are you in the Web design business. What do you offer that no one else does? Who are your target customers? What's the most profitable way to reach them (may have to do a little experimentation on this one)?

If you answer these questions, you'll know how and where to market. Or, perhaps you'll discover the Web design field is absolutely crowded and you can't differentiate your offering. In that case, I wouldn't pursue this business and would look for something else to do. There's always opportunity out there, it's just not always in the most obvious places.

@The Stealthy One, this is an excellent answer. Yes, this is what you need to do. The answer lies within you and need not have to ask anyone else for it.

A huge area that web designers are missing is advertising and working with small single-store business owners. Many of these owners just need a basic (template) website to have a web presence. Home page, About Us, Store Hours & Location, Photos, Contact Us. However, they want to pay $500 for this. I have done over 30 jobs in the last year at that price, for single-stores in my area because no one else does it!

That's cool... just do whatever you think is right. Never listen to others especially
if they have not done it yet.

For using those platforms, make sure you have good content to contribute and be sure to show your readers and users value. Take a look at this article and how it talks about social media and how businesses can implement it.

SEO is the best technique to drive more traffic into your website. Optimizing and promoting your website in the Search Engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of promoting the website to increase the traffic and obtain higher ranking in the Search Engines through the keywords search term. Keyword is the main target to get more visitors via organic search results. Patience is virtue! If you can't wait to get visitors on your website, then try to use Google Adwords or Facebook Advertising. Or you may try to promote your Website Design Company in the Online Free Classified Ads.

Try crowdsourcing websites. They have plenty of customers looking for websites or tech specialists for their businesses.

Web design services can be high-ticket enough to try google adwords.

In fact, I would try out some paid traffic just to test the market.

Narrowing your niche would make your marketing efforts easier.

    Best...

the easiest way to gain more traffic is the paid advertising but so expensive. be patient because search engine optimization is an ongoing process. Why don't you optimize your website than spending your time and money in the Advertising program.
