There are marketing ethics in offline marketing. How about in the internet, are there ethics, too? What are considered unethical in the online marketing world?

I would say that it is bad form to spam on others people's websites. Using social media simply to spam and drive traffic to a site is uneffective and useless in creating recurring business.
When I think of marketing on the internet, I think of ways I can add value to a topic or discussion. If I can link to my site in the process, great, if not, oh well. Networking Advice - Websites and articles to help you make the most of your online and offline networking activities. If you follow the advice from the articles here, you are most likely being compliant with internet ethics and are on you way to maintaing a good public image and web presence.
the internet is interesting yes and it has its ethics too a lot of people do white hat seo but now a days they many are conforming and turning grey hat as they see that spamming (you need to know how to do it) will work and get them to the top of google
In a nutshell: Adding value to the Web (opposite of spam) and creating high quality content is ethical. Anything action intended to scam the engines is unethical.

Good question! There are a set of ethics to internet marketing. In my industry everyone runs PPC on their competitors names even when they are trademarked names. This is frustrating because my contract with my clients does not allow me to do that. This puts me at a competitive disadvantage. The reality is the other companies are acting unethical and to take it a step further so is Google...

WOW! I'd say that the same marketing ethics that you find offline also apply online. Why? because we live in a world that is "instant" and so any non-ethical event has the potential to reach millions of people in a matter or seconds, hours etc. So one must definitely have to be more careful and alert online. All of the marketing campaigns that have gone wrong recieved instant backlash on social media websites, blogs etc. So making the right choices definitely is a MUST. Hope this article helps in marketing to your old customers and using them as points of validation for new ones: How To Gain New Business From Old Customers

Well, ethics of online marketing are almost same as of the offline marketing in my opinion. One distinct thing is that in online marketing spamming on other sites is unethical. Stay to the point with factual information even if you’re to drag traffic to your own site.

This is a very great and informative article, I think that there should be no kind of P.P.C web-sites in which you click and get rewards in the form of money. Most of the people are used to of these sites and they are in the lust of making money through this way of internet marketing for sure. There should be some kind of restrictions on these paying sites for sure.
