Traffic... many different types...

If you want traffic that converts you will want to do SEO for organic rankings. This does include many of the sites that you listed (plus a lot more).

If you are just getting started and you want to drive traffic then you can use the following:
ezines - great source of traffic
YouTube (w/ proper optimization - yes, you can optimize a video!)
Facebook (w/ proper marketing not just posting)
Twitter (w/ proper marketing not just posting)

You need to look at it more like this
SEO
Articles (all sites)
SMM (all sites - social media marketing)
Bookmarking (all sites)
Directory Listings (all sites)
SEM (PPC and other direct action marketing)

A good site will utilize all available options.

For me, I got tons of traffic by being listed on first page in Google ranking. I achieved that
ranking mostly by choosing a highly searched and low competition keyword and then do
lots of link building.

I would say out of the social networking sites #1 for me is Twitter, #2 StumbleUpon and #3 Facebook
