So I have an adventure travel site, and we are just now beginning our marketing phase. We have brand new twitter and facebook accounts. Currently 0 followers/likes for each. What I want to do is give away a prize trip from our website if we reach a certain amount of followers by a certain time.

I'm completely new to twitter, I don't even have my own personal account. But I was thinking something along these lines.

Lets say the date I want to achieve this goal by is 4/30/11

So if we have 50,000 followers then 1 random follower will win a trip for two worth over a thousand dollars total. (not including airfare)
100k followers would add free airfare. (I have two free southwest round trip airfares. )

250k, would be a trip for 4 with two free airfares. (I only have two free trips, and round trip can cost about $300 per person, something i dont know if I am willing to spend) Kind of makes it tricky at this point.

I was also thinking about also doing two runner up prizes. EAch being $150 off a trip.

Again the problem with that is, we kind of do specialized trips and the minimum group size of the trip is 4. ( we are making a special exception for the two person giveaway) So if we gave $150 off a trip then their travel mates would have to pay full trip price still so we would still make some money.

So hopefully we can gain some good exposure like this and have people tweeting to others about our page and website. Maybe even get some press.

What does everyone think about this idea? Are the follower numbers too high/too low? Any other suggestions?
