Question How would you use $25,000?

If you had $25,000 to market a startup company, how would you spend the money?

Through market research, this is what I have come up with:

Events: $10,000 (if the goal of marketing is to raise attention about your startup, than why not put on some sort of event, it will give you a lot of exposure)

Advertisement: $15,000 ($5,000 in brochures, business cards, etc and $3,000 into local TV commercials, $2,000 into radio ads, $1,000 in local ads such as newspapers, and $4,000 in billboard advertising)

What do you think of the marketing budget for my startup company? Is there any advice you'd give me or anything I missed? Your advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm starting a multimedia company (Video/audio production, web/graphic design, etc)

Thanks for posting that question. Its a typical question that almost all entrepreneurs ask when raising a round of funding. For me, and for many entrepreneurs out there, I would focus on producr development and focused marketing/advertising. What that means is not spending beyond the company's means and building something great that gets people talking (free marketing as a result of word-of-mouth). I have heard of several startups that spend too much $ on marketing when they aren't even in beta or launched. Does that make sense? As a result, that type of story makes it harder for investors to take them serious. Spend wiselt and be frugile! Good luck!

Thanks for this. Offline marketing should not be ignored. Events marketing is a great way to go about it if you ask me.

It all depends on the type of startup, as well as location. Are you serving a local community, a specific region, or an international market? Is this a brick-and-mortar location, or an online service? There are many variables that can come into play. A marketing plan set up for an online store will not work for a paintball field, for example.

If you like, provide a bit of background on your business and we can get a bit more specific from there.
