Social bookmarking sites are a good way to drive a lot of traffic to website quickly. I agree, but special skills and preparation of marketer is definately required to make use of this method. Also, the method of advertizing in social bookmarking sites doesn't always work. It works perfectly for informational sites, blogs, press-release and news sites and websites offering global services. It will not work for local online shopping sites effectively. As to highly effective solutions I would recommend PPC advertizing. Do what we do, I dont have to brag about the money we make, but lets just say I never have to work for a boss again.

We use the following :- JV's, PPC, Articles, blog commenting, forums, directories, backlink packets, Press releases, Guest posts on blogs with sig link to site, Social bookmarking, Free Viral PDFs, and building a gigantic list.

The biggest one is building a list. Once you have a high list of people that are ready to hear from you then you have won the game. Building a list of over 8k people is how we took our business from being crummy 500 bucks a month to 4 figures. Try building a list, and treating them like gold. They will reward you handsomely.
