How to market my debate website

I need advice on how I can market my debate website for little to no cost. The url is Debate And Argue Online With Others - iDebate.it

An excellent concept indeed!

You should look to utilize buzz marketing across the social media to develop awareness about your website.

Start by promoting your site on popular portals like facebook, myspace etc, create fanpages and invite as many people as you can. This will generate what we call a word-of-mouse, allowing more and more visitors to your website.

You can also drive traffic to individual 'arguments' by bookmarking them on sites like digg.com, delicious.com, reddit.com, or promoting them via tweets on twitter. Although I have to say, the interface of your site does look quite like that of twitter.

The theme seems a bit dull though for a website of this nature, maybe you could do something about the color scheme to give it a bit more fun look.

These are great ideas. A must.

Check out this cool way to share pages by simply dragging an image on the page.

I've had good success with this plugin, it's called Drag to Share.

ok this is going to sound a little weird i know. however mainstream media would possibly pick up a story like this. If you can start some kind of current controversial topic that cnn or the like is reporting on, then either through I-report or email cnn or msnbc directly about your site. your goal would be to get them to include a mention of your site in their story. I have seen cnn do this several times and it DRIVES traffic big time to websites. so get a raging debate about something very current going, email cnn and tell them about the huge debate going on and offer to help them in anyway on a side story about the topic that includes the people on your site debating said topic.

one last idea though is healthcare. cnntech would probably pick up a story about how the debate on healthcare has gone online and new website is giving them an outlet to debate it. i mean come on if cnn will run a story on chat roulette (drove a TON of traffic to that site) you surely can convince them that you are news worthy on a slow day.
