If you were a subscription based service company, how would you spend it?
If you were a subscription based service company, how would you spend it?
More details about the subscription based company? What you need to achieve with this budget? And the present situation of the company in terms of media publicity?
To vague of a question.. What is your market, your target demographic, your product, what medium are you planning to use?

Hi mrgr,
I concur: we need more information. However, I wrote about developing a marketing plan as a precursor to an optimum cost-effective advertising strategy. You can read about it on my blog below (sorry; can't post link until I've submitted a few more comments). I hope it helps. THe site is free and no ads; if you find the content valuable I ask only that you share it with everyone who might benefit. Cheers!
Regards,
Chris

We plan on spending about 15k in a mix of TV advertising, website advertising on the local station website that gets 1.2 million views a month (ktbs.com), and Google advertising. Our plan is to spend 7k on the KTBS station, 3k on the KPXJ station, 2k on web ads, and 3k on Google Ads. Obviously there is much more detail than this, but on TV alone, we will get over 1 million views. Our goal is to get 1k new customers from this campaign. We know it depends on the message, etc, etc. We were trying to get an idea of your results, if any. To see the service we are marketing, visit our website at my tech team dot net.
Target Market: Ages 35+
Any opinions, thoughts, ideas? My apologies for the vagueness. We want to use a 30sec variation of the commercial we have on the website (which we are working on now).
Maybe spend some money on SEO work, i tried searching a few phrases and you werent on the first page of google, and i wouldn't really be bothered going past the first page
He means, if he where to search using specific keywords, he would likely not go past the first page when the results show up.
I checked out the link... its to a youtube video. What are you trying to sell? I do not think your marketing mix is set-up correctly at all. Having done TV, Radio, SEO, PPC, PPV, and print I can tell you that your budget is way to small to have any TV Advertising in it.
Have you ever heard of the 'rule of three'. Basically what this says is that a person needs to see a company name or advertisement three times on average before they will take action on what they see. So for TV you would have to run enough spots to make sure that a single viewer sees your add three times. This is not easy to do even if you have a million dollar budget.
Your target market is also very vague - 35+... Well men or women.. what income range.. single or married... Before you invest in TV spots you need to have your demographic broken down to the smallest possible piece...
With all that being said there is another course I would recommend. Ditch the TV (and radio) ads and go 100% online to start. This doesn't mean you need to spend all your money here. I would say you could spend $2K to $5K doing targeted PPC on Google, Yahoo, and Bing. You'll get the best results by doing this. I haven't run a TV or Radio spot in three years... they are just to expensive.. not easy to track.. and basically don't convert.
I would possibly change my opinion if I new what service or product you are selling.

Well, this is the primary reason I am here - to here from your experiences and take any other advice. To know what service I am selling visit our site(mytechteam.net). If the site doesn't tell you what we are selling then we have another issue. In a nutshell, we are selling online tech support and PC maintenance to home and small business users. Yes, I have heard of the "rule of three". I should point out that we are going to advertise on local TV. With a 15k budget, that buys us about 150 spots, with 700,000 viewership targeting men and women 35+, all income ranges, single and married. Is that too small? Please keep in mind, we are talking local only, not a nationwide campaign. So of course 15k would not be NEAR enough. We've got all the demographics worked out, but this post was really meant to get an idea of how TV was working for you or anyone else you know versus other means.
BTW, the "link" was to a youtube video we produced. Does the video not explain what we sell????

My first thought was that does your target market listen to these radio stations?
It would seem that your services are local, try Craigslist.
Lastly, check out if there are local forums in your area that you can get into. This way you would have a means to be more active in your community and attract potential customers. Same with Facebook. Create a like page that you can use to spread your service. Invest in some SEO work if you have a good Web site. Go to Google and Yahoo local pages and create a profile. These would be more effective in the long run.
