    I have read in a book on 5 foolproof tips for a successful business. I would like to share them with you.

    1. Identify the needs and preferences of your target market.
    2. Never lose passion for customer service.
    3. Always be consistent with quality.
    4. Think out-of-the-box and constantly excite your market.
    5. Partner with the right supplier.

    Couldn't agree more actually.... number 5 is a variable depending on the type of business, but 1-4 are 100% awesome!

    As for number 5, it would be best if you can have a product of your own that you can send directly to the market. But something lurks at the back of my mind, I still want to partner with the right supplier and in this case that would be of the materials.

    If you are getting raw materials from a supplier, it is best to source from suppliers who offer the best quality. You will be sure of a good end product if the raw materials are also good. For example, in baked goodies like cakes and pastries, if you use low grade flour or chocolates, it will affect the taste and texture of your finished product. That is why Tip # 5 is important. But I agree with simplyfreegas that it depends on the nature of the business.

    I agree with you that risk taking may not ALWAYS be good, but sometimes it's worth the try. If you have researched well and studied your market, and you believe in your product, I don't see why it would fail. How will you know it will succeed if you do not take the risk.
