    Ever used HARO (HelpAReporterOut)?

Has anyone ever used HARO and had success with it?

If you've never heard of it, HARO is used to tell reporters about a story usually pertaining to your business.

I've been a member of HARO for about a year.. There are a lot of journalist requests that you receive three times a day via email.. A good portion of them are open to nationwide responses, but i have noticed lately that a lot of them seem to be regionally targeting the new york / east coast areas.. Not sure why this is.

Although i'm in such a niche market, that i haven't found much opportunity to take advantage of it. I've only found two posts that were on target enough for me to reply, which in both cases, did not see a response. But for someone involved in a more mainstream business, i could see where it could have some value.

I would recommend signing up.. you can't beat the price since it's free.. and who knows, you may find some luck with it. If not, at least you can get some insight to how the pr game is played..

Thanks for the great tips and better understanding of it. So you can only respond to a request? You can't suggest a story for them to possibly use?
