    EBOOK MArketing Ideas anyone?

I am writing an ebook. I want to market it via the internet, but at first have no money for advertising. I am going to try my hand at making a you tube video to get attention. I have everything i need to do that. Any more ideas? success with ebook or any down-loadable product i would like to hear about?

If there are websites devoted to the topic of your book, I would see if you can write a guest post for it. Do you have a website? You could try your hand at comment marketing and seeing how many links you could generate for your site.

    Check out Clickbank

    hey Zeppelin,

check out clickbank. I think they charge a small fee to set up, not sure what it is, but I'd say its in the Top 5 places to sell info products on the web. You can leverage it even more if you've already got a website set up with a squeeze page, as you can create an affiliate following and a newsletter.
    Hope this helps

    Dominic,

Creating, writing, marketing and publishing an ebook will change your status to an expert author. Customers will have more confidence in recognized products or services just because of what you have written. Publish a Website in an edocument format to give a professional look. Copy your material on a disk or CD-ROM and then include it with a direct mailing and this will increase your sales. Look for free tips or purchase other author's electronic books to gain knowledge on how to sell, write, promote and market works belonging to yourself.

I don't want to be a downer on your business ideas, because I know that building a new business is tough and you don't want to lose your motivation, so I want to give you some observations and you can take them either way.

In my personal experience, (dealing with many internet marketing guru's, pro's etc.) eBook marketing has been done to death. It's not so much about the eBook itself, but the MARKETING that matters. The COPYWRITING that's important.

I'm not saying that it can't be done, and hey, -you might be doing it in a market that it hasn't been done before, so I wish you the best, I just want to make you aware of the downsides as well as the upsides.

The problem with an eBook is that it's been done so much that it's now difficult to separate yourself from the market. You've got to be different to the 100's of thousands of other eBook sellers out there. Obviously you're going to pick (or have already picked) your niche market, but keep in mind that you have to offer a lot of VALUE for your customers. If there are already eBooks in the market, what makes you different? (I don't mean that in a bad way, actually think about that). Think about what ELSE you could give away WITH your eBook to separate yourself from the market. An audio? a Video? a Report? a DVD? a Manual?

The problem that many people face is that just because an eBook is cheap and easy, doesn't mean it will SELL. A BUSINESS that runs entirely on 1 product is committing suicide in the long term. (and trust me, you don't really make a "quick buck" in any type of business unless you have a budget to throw around)

The other problem with eBooks is that they have very little margin. i.e. ebook for $37 or even $97 isn't going to give you much of a budget to work with. You're going to have to sell a lot to quit your day job or whatever you do. If you want $5k month, you're going to need to sell around 135 eBooks at $37 a piece.

Working on rough conversion rates, you're looking at a 1-2% conversion. That means that you're going to need about 13,500 hits to your site every month. If you pre-qualify leads and add a bonus and depending on what market you target, you might get better conversions, but these are the typical numbers. Even if you get 10% conversions, you're still going to need 1,350 hits to make it worthwhile and if you have NO budget, it's going to take a lot of time and effort to build up your rankings.

eBooks are also typically given away for Free now to get leads, and even now that's beginning to become the norm, meaning it's becoming less affective.

In my opinion it's probably not really worth the effort until you A: have money to advertise cheaply with (even $100 to start might get you some sales if you get cheap advertising) and B: have multiple products or something to offer them as an additional bonus or whatever making it an IRRESISTIBLE offer.

That's the idea behind marketing. Making something IRRESISTIBLE.

If you do get a budget, PPC (and PCM campaigns done correctly) are going to give you the quickest traffic, but you have to look at conversion rates as to whether you're going to be profitable.

I personally would save some money and put it towards marketing instead of trying to do everything without any budget, but then again, I'm not an advisor.

if you have access to a database that you can promote it via direct mail or eDirect mail, then try convince them to promote your stuff for a cut.

Otherwise "dfm72" had a great suggestion of clickbank.

If you're REALLY keen on trying to promote it and create a business out of it, here are some ways to market your eBook without $:

    1. forums
    2. blogs i.e. blogger, hubpages, ehow etc.
    3. ezine articles -write some articles on the subject of your book (do keyword research first) and then post articles and link them back to your landing page for the book.
    4. social media i.e. facebook, twitter, linkedin, flicker, myspace,stumble-upon,delicious,technorati etc.

but it's honestly going to take time and effort and a lot of it.

To sum up, if you're going to go into business, you need a Strategy, not just a product. You need to MARKET and SELL, not just write a book. Consider what else you can bring to the table and step it up. If you're going to get into business you're going to have the risk some capital. If you fail, big deal, try and try again until you succeed.

I encourage you to persist, learn more, and go for your dreams. No one should ever put a downer on your dreams because they have no idea what you can achieve, I am just trying to give some helpful things to think about to make your chances better :-)

hope that helps and good luck!

I'd have to agree with Tim07 on this one. There are so many eBooks out there it's hard to find that edge that sets you apart from all the noise. Marketing will be the biggest challenge you will find. If you are a professional in the niche that you wrote your book for, considering taking your business a step further and offering coaching or consulting to clients. This will position your eBook as a great "ethical bribe" to get people to opt in to a mailing list. Where you can continue to offer VALUABLE content to your subscribers. and ultimately offer coaching or consulting on the back end.

Ebooks business is one of the most beneficial online money making ways in the internet marketing. Many internet marketers make their profits online by writing and selling Ebooks on the internet. When set up properly, it’s completely automated.

What kind (subject matter) of ebooks are doing well on the internet? Can you give some specifics? Author, Title, Web site?
I am interested in pursuing the ebook market but I know that not all ebooks are doing well. Steer me in the right direction. Thank you.

Help for your eBook marketing question

There are many ways to market your eBook yet the key point is that you must find unique ways to get your ebook in front of your target audience. I wrote an eBook and put a lot of effort in writing only to find out that i couldn't sell any copies.

The reason was not that my eBook was not worth reading, but no one knew about it. So i had to learn quickly about ebook marketing and find ways to get my ebook in to the hands of those who would want to buy it.

As a result i quickly iderntified some powerful ebook marketing techniques including:
    twitter
    Facebook
    eBook Press releases
    Article marketing
    Joint ventures
Having your own key word rich author website

There are some more great free ebook markeing tips at "eBook Author Academy" ebookauthoracademy.com

The key is to keep trying to market and promote your ebook as it will take time. try to get your eBook in the niche ebook stores as that is where your target market goes.

    good luck

    I am an ebook author..
A huge factor on the amount of work you will have to put out to be successful depends on your niche. Yes, ebook marketing has been done and redone, and the good thing with that is that you have many tools and guides so that you do not make the same mistakes others have in the past. I am now moving away from the traditional ebook sales. One of my ebooks sold for $650 back in 2007.

I have an ebook that sold for $99 that I am now giving away to build traffic and momentum on my website. What is your niche? maybe I can give some pointers. I am also producing two new ebooks on blogging for income and making money with niche sites and these ebooks are going to be free, but they have the potential and are of quality enough to be sold. I think taht you can be successful. You just need to be innovative.

This one was really to sell a a thousand copies, i priced it low. I will probably try a different topic and use clickbank. I have been focusing on a website i was building.
I agree that the marketing is critical.
I have more money now to spend and could get into ClickBank,
I am thinking also of giving away a free ebook to promote my other site, what do you think?
