Articles and Press Releases are huge for creating credibility and generating lots of traffic - If you are consistent adding YouTube videos is a fantastic addition - all virtually free and extremely effective - not to mention all 3 methods are viral![]()

I think I will try that out Mega B.
That's why I came on here. To find out where to go to build my business. I'm new to forums and still getting the hang of things. Thanks.

lgame,
To repeat what Joshua said, it all comes down to articles and press releases. The name of the game on the Internet is content. Could you tell us more about your business? I could give you more specific ideas if you did.
You would have to write the articles and press releases yourself- or use a website like Elance.com, Guru.com, and GetAFreelancer.com.
A great place to start is EzineArticles.com
This is a BIG question- it's hard to give you better advice without you getting more specific. But if you do, I'll help as much as possible!
You actually write the articles and you have a profile where you can link to your website - my experience has been 15-20% click through with high value articles 500+ word articles and even higher with some targeted "advertorials".
There's ton's of free sites with good PR to get published on, in particular the one EmailMarketingDude mentioned.

If you really want the most effect from content submission, find authority sites in your niche that let people contribute content. Write a quality article, or pay someone to write it for you.
ezine has a ton of domain authority - their stuff will constantly rank for many 3-4 word searches and I've sometimes seen it rank for more generic two word services. It's great for niches where you do not have an opportunity to get an article and/or link on an authority site.

Google isn't as dumb as you think.
All great tips from everyone on this thread and if I might add what has helped me is guest blogging-
so basically once you have your articles done (professionally written and edited) you can repurpose that content, tweak it a bit and offer a blog owner to do a regular guest blog post on their high traffic blog that you frequent (are familiar with) that is complimentary to your business. While you won't get paid you can get some pretty focused pre-qualified traffic.
Also, it adds more credibility if you are an active poster on that blog. Don't forget to include your website link in your signature.

I think the best way to get a website know is google adwords and soe. BUT...if your looking to be cost effective (no money), then go to social networking websites like myspace and post your website on your page. Then the next best things is to go to forums like this and post your website along with your feedback comments.

Forums seem to be the trend to try to promote your company, sometimes you have to differentiate good advice from someone trying to sell you something
I came in here looking for similar advice--this looks pretty good, and I agree--forums seem to be one really good way of getting word of your site out there. But I have noticed a lot of forums really cracking down on the posting of links if you're promoting your business.
My website is for selling knives and there are a couple forums that are quite popular, but also quite strict.
