Agreed... Blogs and social media are a great way to create a buzz about your site. Social media can really push your site via the word of mouth. From there you can socialize by getting involved in online communities around what you're offering.

Another good reason to start a business blog is that blogs can also be integrated into other social media platforms such as Twitter.

Twitter is a good resource for promoting your blog posts and therefore attracting customers.

A business blog is pretty good for exposure. Social marketing has such a profound effect now a days and it is also a great way to target an audience. For example in most social sites such as Facebook you can easily go and find someone from your area or age group. A business site with good SEO can bring loads of traffic to your site especially in the ecommerce industry

On a related note, how do people feel about paid blogging options? I experimented with this (with a place called smorty.com) and invested very little, expecting to probably not see anything worthwhile (and it sure didn't surprise!). I gave it a shot because it makes sense, as a concept. I just don't think it's an idea that's fully developed yet, but I wish I was wrong.

I agree with this post. Our main keywords for what we think a client would search are basically number 1 on google now. Also I would hope potential clients read our blog to see that we know what we are doing. A blog seems to be a very win win situation for a business.

I agree. I also believe it helps a business person put their face behind their business. people feel better doing business with a person than a wall or signboard.
