To be honest with you, my cat is a pain in the butt [is there a more politically correct phrase for this? :] sometimes, but today, strangely enough, he made me think about marketing, so I guess he is getting his treat after all.
So what exactly could we learn from our four-legged friends?
1) Know your audience
No doubt about that, a cat does know his* audience well. He knows exactly who gives him food every day, and he will be extra nice to that person at any given time, especially just before lunch time. He will also start asking for food the moment this person walks in the room (even though there was someone else there who could have potentially fed him).
2) Find the right moment
It wouldn’t be suppertime without a cat under the table. No self-respecting cat would miss this opportunity to ask for more, even if he had already had his supper. He will always be there, knowing that there is lots of food on the table and there is a chance that he will get a treat.
3) Persistence
There is no way you will get rid of a hungry cat until you finally feed him. He will follow you everywhere you go with an ever-so-subtle “meow” behind your back. And you know it is easier to give him the food now, so he leaves you alone.
So, give your cat a hug and give him a treat. There are a lot of things we can learn from our furry family members.
PS
*Not to be a sexist or anything but I refer to this particular cat as “he”, because my cat is a “he”.
Oh, and I do love my cat, and he is getting a treat, right now…
