What to do? with leftover money

Hi everyone. So i am a college student in my last year and i have started an online store for a niche market. After the site design and all other payments to get my company registered and off the ground, i am left with $1000. So i was thinking why not spend this on advertising? What do you all think? And where should i advertise? Facebook, myspace, magazines??? Yeah i could save this $$$ for monthly business expenses however those for now are less than $100. What do you all think? what would you do? If not spend it on advertising, spend it on what? Luckily i dont have any bills like rent/car payment (thank god for my parents) for now.
Thanks for any input in advanced

I would go to borders and look for a good magazine to be in, myspace and facebook you can advertise yourself. Chances are you will have to pay more than $1000 for a advertisement though
You can't achieve your goals if you don't take that chance so go pry open your trunk and take those amps.

Definitely focus on online advertising- this will give you a much larger ROI! I agree that SEO should be a big focus, as well as Pay Per Click (google adwords). You should also find some niche sites in your area where you can buy a few ads to promote your niche store. Try to find a blog in your niche area- depending on the size of the blog you can get a very, very reasonable price.

I specialize in creating and implementing online e-marketing plans for small companies, and have been known to come in under budget. If you need any advice at all, please feel free to contact me and I can send you in the right direction, and/or we can talk about a potential business relationship!!

    Good Luck!

This board is getting kind of cluttered with all the Service providers on here. Much more useful when it's other entrepreneurs.

Depending on your product and target market, I'd try and advertise directly to the crowd. Like if it's skater apparrel then I'd work hard to get mindshare amongst skaters - what magazines they read, what blogs they read, where they hang out, who they respect. Then pound some pavement and get at all the events and create a presence.

I wouldn't splurge on some big mag ad, instead I'd go for a lot of little things. If all you've got is a grand then your going to be in dire need of revenue very quickly. Make it last.

Do SEO yourself, it's not bad. Just do lots of reading and you'll learn.
