posting on forums. Not spamming but posting good comments and critiques.

I will have 20 people alone go to my site for this one post. I look all my stats up in sitecounter and most of them come from forum site comments.

But my site does not make(much)money on traffic, but it helps people learn about my services.

Have been using Craigslist the most lately as you can target either a area or country and its free but watch what you do dont go over the top to much or they will shut your account down and if you experiment it is a very powerful way to promote your sites Forgot to say also that i have started to do 2 blogs as i find these are a good vehicle for promoting your websites.

    best ad method

Posting on forums is the best, but only if you have something to add to the conversation. I find if I help someone out with information or encouragement it comes back to me in the form of visitors to my site.
    I hope that helps.

Relevant forums are great, especially when you have something substantial to say. Updating my website frequently with interesting news items brings back visitors.

I use entrecard for short blasts of traffic but mainly rely on article writing on my own site as well as on other article submission sites. I have become a believer in content is key.

I have found that doing press releases and blogs create a pretty good buzz when it comes to traffic to your site.

Before i started my website i did all the research i felt was necessary as to what my site would actually have. For SEO purposes.

Being not very web design savvy i thought that a static website attached to a blog would enable me to bring in the extra visitors but also allow me to design my own site the way i wanted.

The blog will enable me to write unique content that people can comment on and also sign up to [collect details] but it also becomes a way for me to collect ideas and opinions from the public.

Saying that though, at current, most of my visitors come from my facebook group.
I just send an email out every week and invite as many people as possible..hehe
it has worked OK so far.

but i'm going to have to use some more ideas that have already been mentioned - eg. forums.

I find forums to work well. Craigslist it really good too, if you link your url to blogspot you are less likely to get banned. I've written an article but I need to write more. I am fairly new to online marketing, all these responses let me know I am doing something right.

As others have mentioned forums are good, but i have been accused of spamming which can be upsetting. Adwords is ok but expensive really. For my site the key is repeat traffic and i find our blogs, articles and forums really help with that.

I find it depends on the market. For my business sites forums and blogs work best. For my soccer site videos and articles are best. For a fitness site I have HubPages has been very good to me. For a coaching client of mine in wedding planning she gets a ton of traffic from Yahoo Answers and Craigslist.
I always recommend that you try multiple sources and track where your traffic is coming from and then spend more time with what is working for you.

I tried videos as well. I have started a series of video tutorials/podcasts directed toward people who want to learn graphic design.

I put these on youtube and posted them on my site. That has brought some good traffic.
I was also had an article feature my podcasts on the 2nd largest graphic design site which realllllyy boosted traffic.
