    Unusual Fun Ways of Marketing

Webmasters work their ass off for traffic. Specially if its your first website, chances are you will get lost in wonderland.

These techniques are for fun purpose only. I wouldn't recommend trying any of the extreme techniques mentioned here, however you may find some useful tips here as well. If you try any of these, you would do at your own risk.

Here are the ideas to pour in traffic to your site:

    * Paint your URL on your body and run naked through New York or any big city.
    * Next time you see a reporter reporting news in town live, charge into them knocking them over and yell out your url into the camera. it will probably make it onto one of those "funniest tv moments" shows.
    * Hore an artist to paint your url on interstate highways.
    * Paint the Url on your new car!
    * Call up your lawyer... tell them.. you want to sue Google Inc for not returning relevant results for a search term. Chances are, this will make it to the big news.. on TV.. Radio.. News Websites.. you'll get enough traffic...
    * Get some busty women to tattoo it on their breasts. It is sure to get plenty of attention from male audiences. No risk of your ad from being ignored..
    * Set your wireless router's essid to your domain name!
    * Go in all your electronic stores (futureshop, best buy, circuit city, radio shack, apple, etc. etc.) and open a web browser and put your domain as the page, and also mark it as the home page!
    * Sponsor a silly event at nearby festivals and such
    * Paint your website url on all your t shirts, pants, caps etc.
    * Head over to a cyber cafe` and set your domain as the home page for all PCs!
    * buy 5000 stickers and put them everywhere, colleges campuses especially.
    * Pay some hot chick to tattoo ur domain on her titties....
    * Go to your public library, put your site's businesscard with url in each of the magazines and books. You can do the same when returning library books as well.
    *
Get an airplane that leaves smoke tracks and fly all day just putting your url all over the sky.
    * Goto a baseball or football game and get a HUGE banner with your URL on it.
    * Write your Url on public bathroom doors and urinal places. People will look at it long long time trying to pee/poo. Chances are very good they would not forget it.
    * Put your domain for sale on ebay for some crazy money that is totally outrageous...
    * Stamp your URL to a thousand $1 dollar bills.
    * write your url on the bottom of your shoes. Every time you take a step, people behind may notice it.
    * Sponsor 50/50 raffles and other drawings at nearby flea markets, fairs & carnivals.
    * Go to Alexa.co, submit your site as related link for sites related to yours.
    * Pay somebody to stand on a busy street corner all day long with a placard displaying your domain name.
    * Paint your house bright pink and add flashing fairy lights. After a week or so (when media interest peaks or you get arrested!) paint the url on too!
    * place a fake bomb on the white house with your URL on it. Maybe with Yosemite Sam underneath.
    * Go to the richest neighborhood in your area at night. Paint all cars you find with your url. It will be on TV next morning!

I've always been tempted to post the url of my website to my entire works email address book. About 100,000 email addresses - and see how long I last the day before I am sacked

I always had a cool idea of getting Tshirts printed with a really neat graphic on the front (that will be liked by your target demograhic) Then on the back put your url on the upper part accross the back.

Do you know how many people would see that? The design on the front will be so fresh and awesome that kids and young adults would wear that shirt for free walking around malls schools etc

Sure you will get the traffic from this but on your website there will be no ads to show as Google can take hard step for that.

But T Shirt or Caps are the most oldest way to get recognition and this one is still working.

A good one I've heard of is, when creating a direct mail campaign for an ironing service, was printing flyers with "don't let your clothes get as crumpled as this" with the company info etc, scrunching them up into a ball and dropping them through letter boxes...

Not something that I agree with to be honest; unusual and funny marketing is just another way of getting your target market to remember/take notice of you. Of course its more appropriate for some businesses than others I don't equate humour with funeral directors for example...

If you live in a long house, put a banner on your roof with your URL and leave it there for 18-24 months.

The next time Google does aerial surveillance to update GoogleMaps/Earth, your URL will be legible from 500ft

I love coming up with new ways to think outside the box.
