Thumbs up There is more to life than the internet.

I notice 90% of the marketing & PR forum is based around internet marketing. I understand why; internet marketing is cheap. It’s cheap but to make it worth anything it takes time to build an internet presence and the competition is growing every day. I see people talking about creating twitter accounts, facebook fan pages, and blogs; but I never see anything mentioned about a marketing plan and marketing calendar to make all of those sites work and project a common brand image. Like everything in marketing their needs to be a plan set, problems envisioned, reaction calculated, and a way to see the ROI of all the time spent spreading the word of your website.
I recently had a client tell me that he has spent a small fortune with an internet advertising company that specializes in SEO. He wasn't happy with the results he was getting and came to me to see what I could do with the money he spent with the SEO company. I gave him three simple things:
  • A well designed business card
  • A professional logo
  • a capabilities brochure
I then told him to go visit the clients he wanted most. He picked up a phone and hit the streets. He talked face-to-face with his potential clients, built relationships, and made sales. More sales than he had ever generated through his website. Overall he saw a 63% ROI.

Lesson learned: Making sure your website is at the top of Google is important and taking full advantage of social networking sites is an absolute for any business. But- it is important to create a marketing plan and a marketing calendar before implementing a strategy. Also nothing produces quicker results than Face-to-Face interactions. Its more memorable and more desirable.

Networking, baby, networking.

It's not solely about social media and internet-based networking. First, you have two generations of people (Gen Xers and Baby Boomers, or anyone over the age of 30) who didn't grow up with the internet. While they may be very active participants in everything online, it's meaning and function are perceived differently than their younger counterparts. They still value face-to-face interactions, so if you're target market includes anyone over the age of 30, keep this in mind.

Networking flourishes in all age groups. You don't have to join a specific group to network either. Networking is all around us whether we are picking up our dry cleaning, walking the dog, or attending class. It's about building relationships because people do business with people they trust. Once you start to build these relationships the word about your business will spread. When establishing your marketing mix, add networking to the plan. It works and is highly effective.

Success to you.

Internet marketing is ONLY one strategy out of so many Marketing strategy..
It might not be applicable to twitter, facebook or SEO any kind of businesses..

And to inforce a strategy, there is usually many pre-preparation, marketing research and position, branding etc to be done and to check out the various KPIs to calculate the impact to the bottomline of any business..

Imagine I am a business owner of a construction company which supply construction materials for civil & structural projects..
I wonder how Facebook gonna helps me..

Yes, I do agree that there is more to life than the internet..
