    Suggestions on using YouTube

I understand how many of you use YouTube for marketing but I don't have an idea how I could use it for my own business. I run a SaaS company for online timekeeping - timesheets and that sort of thing. We do have training videos on our website for customers but reposting them on YouTube seems silly. Is YouTube just not for us? Any creative suggestions?

    Thanks

Many businesses believe in posting how to videos on Youtube in order to promote their services or products. Unfortunately, the people you are trying to attract are not ready to see how your site or product works before they know about what it does.

What I always suggest to my clients is to use Youtube to provide useful interesting information to your niche. In your case, make videos explaining how businesses can save money by using online time sheets, or how it's more efficient. Make videos that explain how to save time, or just talk about time management, scheduling and other related topics.

You've now increased the interest in your videos. Instead of being limited to people who already know your business and are looking for how to videos that can already be found on your site, you are targeting people interested in business who can learn from these videos and are your target market, therefore driving traffic to your site.

Good luck! Feel free to contact me for more details if you want.

I have to second what Sife is saying. Adding value, and educating an audience builds trust with them much faster than talking about your product, even if your product is the antidote for death. It's just the way customers prefer to buy (some, not all)

Youtube is a tremendous tool for this, the only thing I would add is that you should invest time in finding and "friending" others in your niche on Youtube. 20 people can promote farther than one can...get as many people on your team as possible

What if your video got into google? Check out some search terms you'd use to find out something about your business on youtube. If there is a video with a decent number of views you'll see that it's worth it. Whether it's just to get a pretty high pr backlink to your site or to drive some pretty high levels of traffic to your site.

Good suggestions. I use the same approach in my company blog. I write on useful market related topics that I have experience with. So it sounds like the next step then, would be turning that material into videos? I can do that.

Have you any suggestions on finding relevant friends on YouTube?

Thanks a lot for you help everyone!

We share the same views. People are more curious to watch a video in which they could get a better, larger view of the picture. Post videos that are entertaining, but at the same time informative. Videos should have a catchy music in it. Add a little humor--it goes a long, long way...
