    Suggestions for Forum Bots

    Hi Guys-

So recently we relaunched our website and have since been going full speed with landing a local business partnership, putting together a proposal for a corporate sponsorship, as well as increase in interest and use of our services. While that is all great it comes with the aspect that you spend more time under the magnifying glass, and since we pride ourselves in the community aspect of our site, I cannot have our forum ridden with porn, spam and other things that could drive users away.

That being said, I know it requires frequent maintenance and moderation, but I was trying that and still there would be lots of junk in there. As of now, I turned off the forum and am trying to work with my tech guy to find a good bot that can prevent such things.

We are using the phpbb forum. Does anyone have any experience with safeguarding this as best you can with a bot or program?

    Thanks in advance!

Guy,depending on what version of php you are using as far as i understand this is one of the best additions for this type of thing :
SourceForge.net: CrackerTracker Professional and is used on a lot of high profile forums.

This may help in what you are looking for

    Hey Mega B thanks!

I just want to make sure that the clean up I have to do is minimal, as I understand it will always be there, and at the same time don't have kid's on there looking at the kid's fishing section and getting an eyefull of who knows what!

Thanks I'll let you know how it goes!
