Something I've noticed....

I developed a website for a small local business, and began Search Engine Optimization on the site. I did all the usual 'tricks of the trade', meta tags, optimised page text content, alt tags, external inbound links. But noticed it wasn't causing to great deal of results quickly - which is to be expected as it takes time. But since we launched a pretty large adwords campaign, the site rocked not only in traffic (obviously!) but interestingly its Page Ranking rating jumped from nothing to 3 in the space of less than a week! Has anyone noticed anything similar happen to them using with adwords on their SEO campaign?

No, I'm pretty sure your adwords campaign doesn't have anything to do with it.

Yes, it is adwords, I am very sure about it.
I haven't too much work optimizing my site for search engine. Adwords has also given me very good hits, in fact 90% of traffic I am get from google organic.
Some the keywords pulls my website at top of the first page.
Remember , 99% of the google's revenue come from adwords.

Im not sure I agree with that 100%. I used google adwords and it didnt seem to help much at all so I stopped using it. But others may have gotten better sucess. I did more clicks from adwords, but the majority werent good quality.

I didn't see much of a difference with adwords. Godaddy just added google tools to make our website more google search friendly. I noticed the amount of website hits almost triple since I enabled this option. But I have been working hard for the last 2 months marketing and advertising. Maybe its a little of both.

I believe that Adwords has helped with my site, but like dfveteran I have been working my tail off to promote my site, so I can't really say that it's all Adwords, but yes it did help.

Good Luck on making it happen again.
