Simply submitting your site to all the social bookmarking sites is great for SEO.
However, if you got on the front page of Digg let's say, it's amazing for buzz and traffic.
Some people call it peak traffic but if you learn how to utilize it, you can get steady traffic for it. (i.e. getting people to subscribe to RSS feed.)

Bookmarking is the best way to get good traffic to your site. use Digg, Kabodle and Stumple up on. Those are bet one I have ever used
