I hand out flyers and make sure to have my website on the flyers. My business is primarily not online but I have not had very good results from as far as traffic from the flyers.
Great business opportunity in the weight loss industry.

I'm thinking to use flyers also for my Picture Dating Community site when I will get MMS picture uploads sorted out.
My idea is to distribute those to the colleges and campuses noticeboards, so I estimate that average 12 persons will read each flyer, the sign up rate has been 12% per visitor so from 1000 flyers I can get around 1400 members.

I wife opened a gift, invitation and embroidery shop in town. Having a very small advertizing budget I hit the pavement with flyers to the local community. We did not offer a discount in the flyer, and the return rate (from people talking about the flyer) was about 0.5%. I walked about 250 miles but business picked up to the point where I had to go work the store.

I would not put a lot of money in flyers myself, but they did drive traffic.

    Smitty,

I would still suggest using Adwords. You do have the option to only advertise locally, so I would definitely recommend it! Good Luck!

Flyers are a great inexpensive way to market.

I've posted flyers with pull tabs around college campuses and have gotten quite a high ROI on it, considering it cost virtually nothing for the paper and ink.

Also incentives for people to visit the website are great, too. Coupons or a special 'download' are always great.

You could team up with someone who would like to promote a product or something and you could offer a coupon for that free product or service as an incentive for people to visit the site!

Flyers advertizing the appropriate item will really work well on college campuses.
