I searched, but didn't see anyone specifically mention this. Has anyone here tried getting a featured profile on myspace? did it drive any traffic to your actual website or no? Did it help in any other ways as far as marketing and exposure, brand building, etc?

Yeah. I've been getting about 20 people to get to my website from socializing on myspace alone. It's not great, but I'm still working on it.

but have you tried being a featured profile of any sort? I'm guessing you have to go through their regular ad channels to do so. I just wondered what that cost is and what the ROI was looking like for any given market

Guess no one's really done it. Perhaps one of us should try. I have a site I'm building for someone now in the music industry market, I will see if I can talk him into trying this out once he gets a wee bit established. He just got his first dedicated server two days ago, so it'll be a while.
