Lightbulb Marketing Help

FlashFactory.com is a new online flash website builder-made easy. We've been in development for about two years. Since we're currently in beta phase we've been pushing to release as many templates as possible.

Our marketing department has looked into many free online channels and have undergone a majority of business to business networks, affiliate programs, social networking sites, contacted many businesses and individuals, etc.

Because we are such a small company, money is scarce. We've offered 99 cent websites for the first month, including hosting. We've also tried to partner up with other small businesses by offering free sites to their clientele in order to spread word about our system. Soon we'll be offering a 14 day free trial to the public. In the meantime we're making adjustments and additions onto our system and getting ready to release a brand new homepage.

We feel that there is a market out there, especially for Flash websites. Our mission is to help serve and promote the businesses of all individuals. However, right now we're seeing very slow growth.

Are there any other suggestions as how to advertise and market our company?

With so much competition online, I would target small businesses, and use the predictive call dialer software which has proven to be very cost effective for offering free trials, and there are still millions of small businesses which do not have a web site. Trying to capture interest on the internet when there are thousands of offers for low cost web sites is going to be tough. You can target any business category using internet based call dialers, so this is the medium I would target. You can reach thousands of businesses for pennies each.

Success to all,

What do your site analytics look like at the moment? Are you having a) Low Traffic or b) Low Conversion Rate of site visitors to paying customers?

At first glance, FlashFactory.com doesn't effectively convey exactly what service the site offers. The text that actually conveys the value to the customer - "make an amazing flash website" - is in some of the smallest font on the landing page.

Yes, the fine print further down does a better explanation, but you should hit visitors immediately with what your business does. There's concrete data that you've got all of 10 seconds to convince a site visitor to stick around.

All of your efforts might be sending customers to your landing page only to see them quickly leave without digging further into your offer.

Also, it sounds like a lot of your advertising efforts have been focused online. It seems like your target customers would be individuals or businesses that don't have an existing site yet. I haven't done the research, but I suspect the majority of your target market doesn't have a site because they're not particularly web savvy. Have you considered offline advertising?

Traditional print ads and radio can still be extremely effective if you know exactly what demographic you're after.

- Dan

@ Warranties For Less- I do not believe that looking into a predictive call dialer software provides any real benefits as far as drawing in potential customers. They're mainly automated telemarketers that the average person hangs up on. We want to try to get onto a more personal level with the business or individual that we're dealing with.

@ F4F- Our amount of traffic has been low. Thanks for your feedback regarding the text on our homepage. We've been revamping it so that it will become much easier for people to navigate their way through our site.

Print ads are not in the direction of our company, especially because we are internet based and so is our system and the product that we provide. Cutting down on the amount of steps it takes for an individual to get to our site is what we're going for. We've done local radio blasts but did not find any success in it.

Thanks again for your comments!

Great site! One thing I would do is guest write for blogs in the flash website niche. That way you can position yourself as a resource in front of your potential customers as opposed to just another website building company.

Does this help at all?

Media creation is as essential as any component to a marketing strategy. Chris is right. Standard push marketing isn't enough, being a content provider is important for small businesses.

I'm with F4F on this. You may be missing out on alot of business by not doing any tangible advertising. Many small businesses need websites. Even the smallest mom and pop place can recognize the need for an effective site. Like I tell alot of small business owners, look into guerilla marketing and if you find you need any promotional products check out my site.

Thanks for all the great feedback!

Catering to small businesses has been our objective for quite sometime now. Some businesses however, choose to operate without a website. For those with websites (although very standard) seem to be happy with that they already have.

I'm beginning to wonder, does the common business owner really know the difference between HTML and Flash?

We have recently launched our new homepage, making it as simple and effective for almost anyone to use. Right now we are offering a 14-day free trial. We'd love to hear your thoughts so check us out at FlashFactory.com today!
