Marketing for auction type of site?

What are some good marketing tools for a person to person online marketplace?
So far I have thought of:

Search Engine Optimization
Google Adsense
Google Analytics
facebook ads
heavy traffic forum advertising

Could you give the address of the site your trying to promote?

First off I would recommend putting your link in your forum signature for every forum you post on. Might as well get some links to your site!

Try direct marketing to big time sellers. If you can get 10-20 sellers to commit to using your site say for free for the first year then you will have something to entice buyers. When the buyers come they will bring more sellers. You need merchandise first. This can also be done by contracting with drop shippers or affiliate sellers. Stock your site... then go after buyers...

If you need a good domain for your site I still have Iauctions.com - i auctions Resources and Information. This website is for sale! for sale. I wanted to develop an auction site but have not had the time. The last offer on the domain was $4500... still looking for more
