depends on the business, and who you are trying to reach.
me personally, i'd spend it on facebook ads, some stickers/ decals for my car (theres a thread about this around), and some print and radio ads with the rest.

Thanks for your response, do you really like facebook ads over adwords?

    Cool

depends on what you are offering to which market & when to realise your profit at which value..

See marketing as an investment if it is done correctly..
Sometimes some sellable campaigns don't cost much & even at zero dollars, & yet, the results are crazy..
Sometimes even you got $1m budget, you are just throwing $ away..

It is NOT the amount you got..
It is WHAT & HOW you DO with the amount that matters..

I would put up a big ad in some paper (1 time ad, not recurring) which tells people there's a one-time limited offer if they act now. For example, have a special phone number they can call in the add (which covers its own costs!). If they act, they get a discount.

If possible, go for weekend edition, since they have better sales.

Ha!!! I laugh my butt off when one of my customers asks me, "How much Marketing Money should I spend on Newspaper, TV and Radio Ads?" The answer is $0.00!!!

More than 80% of homes have PC's in them, 60% of those use Social Media Sites to research for business info and products. Use your marketing dollars to learn more effective ways to use Social Media as your workforce. If you take a look at people like myself and Perry Belcher, you will find the best ways to market your business on the web while spending virtually ZERO. Perry and myself have successfully marketed our businesses and made (a lot of) money using Social Media outlets. DM me for more info.

    Agree with Ty.

I have paid for TV, Radio, newspaper and magazine and by far the best results are through the internet search marketing.

    Chicon,

Thanks for the "thumbs up",.. One more thing I would like to ad to the topic. If you think about these facts for just a moment, you will really start to see the light and WHY, I do so well in Social Media.

    1) If your town is anything like mine - Your radio stations have "One Hour Commercial Free" EVERY hour except for the "drive times". (people are not paying / listening to radio as often. Yahoo radio, MP3, iPod's & Satellite radio is in the "Now".

    2) Newspaper - I should not even have to mention this one but, here it goes. Big time newspaper companies are closing their doors. One by one, they are closing. Why buy the newspaper when you can read it for FREE and all the news is updated "As it Happens" on the web?

    3) Billboards - Who's got time to look at billboards when we are all on our cellphones, texting or sending Twitter updates? lol Unless you are driving through Branson, MO. There you may have a chance!! (kidding)(billboard every 20 feet - not kidding)

Seriously - You need to go where the people are and the people are on the WEB!!! Go out and getem'.

If you find yourself needing help with Social Media and how to use it the RIGHT WAY, get in touch with me. I'll show you most effective ways to get those customers you are searching for. That I promise you !!

    Unpaid Interns

Another good way to get your message out there is interns. Depending on your industry/market, you can consider having unpaid interns at local colleges and universities working for you. There are federal regulations on unpaid internships and I would suggest making sure you follow those guidelines but other than that set up a program for marketing interns and have a bunch of college kids running around working for you. They will be eager to work for the experience and recommendation.

Well I was going to post the link to the guidelines but since I am brand new to the site it won't let me. Go to google and type in unpaid internship laws and click on the first link and it will give you the proper guidelines.

    Hope this helps.

If it was for a website the money would be spent on building links if the site is optimized for search engines.

Speaking of links if you have a bicycle site we would love to trade links with you.

    cheers

50% to add features to make my site better. 50% to better optimize my site so that it would show up higher in search engines. Marketing is key.
