I'm seeling a home page ad on my newest site starting at only $5/month and i get 100-200 unique visitors per day. The price will probably increase in the future but we're starting really low to attract more advertisers. You can place your ad buy visiting my home page and clicking the "your ad here" on the top right and your ad will be placed their. You can keep it as long as you want but you are under no obligation and can cancel at any time.

i think article writing can be extremely effective as mentioned above, as long as you keep at it for a little while.

the best way to drive free traffic to your website is to promote it to the high traffic and related site. You can check the traffic by using the "alexa toolbar".
Another link building strategies that can drive to your site is through blogging and article submission.

Alexa's ok for a general feel, but not the most accurate.
I'd recommend using the firefox browser and getting the SEOpen extension/addon or, or checking scores on something like compete or quantcast

Social media sites are only useful for building links, the traffic you receive rarely converts - if ever.
Article marketing is also for building links, the traffic here will not really convert either.
You need to find keywords to target and write articles targeted towards these keywords. Build backlinks to these articles so you can start appearing on Google.
Don't buy traffic or waste your time with programs that promise traffic - these kinds of schemes might provide traffic but alas, it will not convert.
Your site has no content, you're going to have a lot of trouble getting natural search traffic.

I know people said Facebook, but what if you didn't have to pay. Instead of using the ad thing, just create a group and maybe you could pull off a whole bunch of people in the group.
Its worth a try-for free!!
Hope it helps.

I completely disagree with the top part of your post.
Social media sites are not only meant for building links, but the traffic conversion they create is much better than a search engines.
But I do agree with your last bit. You don't have any content to help out your visitors, when they actually get to your website. Make a blog, and post information on it about say, how web hosting services rip you off, and then use it as a funnel for people to get to your website.
Promote your blog on MyBlogLog, BlogCatalog, and Bumpzee, in order to drive traffic to it.
Make your website, and blog different from everyone else in your niche, so then you don't blend in with your competition. Stand out, and socialize, to get the most out of your online business.

No - social media traffic is completely untargeted. To say that it has better conversion than a search engine is totally false. Trust me, I've probably had close to 3,000 links submitted to social bookmark sites in the past year.

I think social sites can help you promote, people use them all the time, including myself.
My mother in law does business and she uses these sites and have gotten some great contacts.
I have one in my signature, not only do you get awesome page hits, but you get paid to be there. I love it man. If you stay on, you can have up to 2000 hits on that one blog or page, pretty cool, if you know how to do it.
