Search Engine Optimization helps promote a site. Here are some of the techniques you have to consider when promoting a site:

1. On-Page Optimization - (meta tags, title tags, alt-tags, description, keywords and h1/h2 tags)

Agree with above, you should really start working on optimizing the website for SEO to help google know what its all about.
