Ok I have spent tons of money on pay per click advertising but it isn't working. I would like to work on getting links on my site The Virtual Assistant Staffing Group but Im not really sure how to go about it. Any advice would be really appreciated. So far the only way to find my site on google or yahoo is to search by the exact name which may not be getting very much exposure.

You might want to do a little research on Search Engine Optimization (Search Engine Optimization)

Specifically, it's optimizing your website with certain keywords so that when someone searches, you can receive organic hits rather than paid advertising hits.

In terms of paid advertising, this is also quite tricky.

You'll need to optimize your specific keywords that are relevant to your website.
You can use services such as Google Adwords.

First of all, find out who your competitors are, then find out what keywords they use. If it's very competitive, then try different keywords, if it's mediocre, try optimizing your site so that the keywords are effective.

First do on-page optimization for your site. Then build links for your website (not only the home page, all important pages). While getting links from other sites, try to get them from relevant sites.

What free programs can we use for doing the Search Engine Optimization? I mean is there any free apps that you can use to help build your page rank? Sorry if its a dumb question.

I would advice you not to waste too much time looking for the perfect Search Engine Optimization tactic. It doesn't exist. Write quality articles about your niche. Interlink your articles and probably add an article or two in an article directory and you are all set. All my sites are pr4 and above and I have never done any of that Search Engine Optimization stuff.

Pagerank is over rated, you need to worry about getting more links to your websites content. Read these websites religiously and try out stuff they tell you to do.

To increase pagerank for your website, you need to have link back to your site as much as you can
