I'm an article marketer plain and simple. No matter what you want- more customers, more sales, more exposure- nothing is going to work as well as a WELL WRITTEN article that answers questions people have and is easily found by Google and the like. At least, for online businesses (though there's great potential for it to work for offline too)

snowswap is right for offline businesses- that's where word of mouth really comes in especially if you consider things like restaurants or any type of retail establishment.

I have found that specialized forums are a good way to get your site out there. I own a art/apparel company so i search for art and clothing forums. One huge thing is you need to make sure to be genuine because they do not take kindly to spammers! There are ways of showing people you are out there indirectly without spamming and still being a active member in the forum. Flyers and prints ads work as well.
