You need to be more elaborate as to what the type of business is, who your target market is, things like that before I can really provide any valuable advice.

    Hi guys,

The type of business envisioned is an online marketing communication provider that looks to bridge the gap between entities by providing a central portal. This central portal will consists of cutting edge services and solutions to better improve communication as well as reduce retention time.

    Target market:

    - Job seekers, employers, and agencies (Central Generic Job Portal)
    - Modelling agencies and young models (Model Seeker Portal)
    - Companies and/or individuals who would like to promote through the site and be more interactive with their target market or clients (Promotions Portal)

The main concept or vision behind this - is to reduce the communication gap by bringing all entities into one portal using current cutting edge web technologies. The main area that I will focus more on is improving on the current Job/Career websites. I feel so much still needs to be done in that area to improve communication and speed the process of applying for jobs and finding job seekers.

I am currently busy developing the standard and basic requirements for the website before I embark on the real products or ideas mentioned above which are login, subscriptions, support, billing, accounts. The company only has one member (me) and currently looking for good candidates to join the team be it virtual or local. I am a software engineer more technology and development driven. The company is young and thus cannot employ the needed personnel such as an accounting officer, financial officer and a marketing officer. I believe these could play a vital role in the growth of the company or business.

Your advice is what I need to further embark on this journey.

    Thank you guys

So you are creating Monster.com? What differentiates you from other posting sites that list jobs/modeling gigs/marketing? If you are looking to get your site up and running make sure you park the site ASAP. It takes 60-180 days for a new site to be crawled by Google. So while you are developing the site you want to put some sort of page up that has proper META Tags.. this will speed up the recognition process.

Tell me more about what you plan on doing with your site.

Roger, Zoobie many thanks for the feedback and query.

I am very much aware of the crawling by Google and currently using Google Webmaster Tools to further enhance my website.

My current approach seeing that my new company is still young, new and working on new projects ; the aim is to get client feedback (related products) through online prototyping of the envisioned products that the company will render online. We are currently busy mocking or prototyping Model Seeker Portal and getting feedback from prospective clients to better improve and provide cutting edge solutions from their point of view. You can view this incremental development through the website by clicking on the iModelSeeker link.

What will differentiate me from my competititors is the current availability of web technologies that will provide top class service and beaf up the communication services visioned by the new company. We will offer enhanced emailing, sms service, fax-2-email, internal client emailing system and ticket creations, email notifications, sms notifications and many more. This is all to bridge the gap between two entities and better improve the online communication webspace...

This is still in a conceptual design phase for iModelSeeker which looks to take advantage of the web technologies and set the trend for future products of this magnitude. Getter closer to my clients through online prototyping will help us understand their needs and better improve the current and existing online communication services.

Thanks - and again your advice, experience and expertise is what I need to make this work. I am very passionate and this excites me even more than I could ever imagined. I can't sleep, lol...

Many thanks to all of you guys for the feedback and advice. I have made some in-road inprovements to the website regarding the services and solutions the new company will render online. I have attracted quite a number of few people world-wide and caught the eye of top players in the related target market. I am stepping the pace a little bit more and get more people involved in the company's envisioned services and products.

This information is not accurate. It does not take anywhere near that amount of time. To get a new website crawled takes about a week - if you implement some basic Search Engine Optimization.
I am not referring to a website that has been parked with content and meta tags etc.

Last week I set up a new page which i identified as a 'key page' and I had it crawled within 24 hrs.

Time is a factor, especially with Google optimisation.

The other thing worth mentioning is that the South African online market is a lot less competitive than the USA, Aus, UK etc. This makes it much easier to achieve good rankings in the search engines.

    Yandisa,

I think "juicing" up your meta tags and the likes are important. What is your company prepared for when it comes to financing a real marketing campaign offline? Understand that to have a strong brand-you need to feed all sorts of media outlets.

    Hi LT,

You have a very good point there. I would like to setup the online foundation first and see how we can make this service offline as well. I believe it is still too early to really tackle that one, wish I had someone like you on my board or ship

Congesting offline and online services will complicate matters at this stage but point taken. With more financing and investments to the company we will then make conclusive plans of how we tackle this one.

With the success rate of the online service and the real demand for offline services, we will make a thorough research and concrete approach to providing offline services. Financing will be the key as you have mentioned. We cannot really only on the web as we might encounter offline demands.

Regarding meta tags - I have only Google setup at this stage not really aware that there could be faster crawling services out there. Please clue me up Dylan.

    Many thanks to you LT

I would say your best bets are
SEO, adsense, indirect ads, and affiliate marketing
