Thumbs up Email Marketing or SEO?

Hey guys, I know this is a rather broad topic, but a lot of people want to know...

And i know the answer already... I just want to see how other people look at it... Proper email marketing with optin, coreg, or survey leads is faster at making your site come up in the rankings... but are the rankings really what is important?

Or, at the end of the day... isn't it the total sales you've generated more important?

Just a thought for discussion. At data4marketers.com we supply all of the optin data that's going around, and our clients are steady: meaning they wouldn't keep doing it if there wasn't good value in what they're doing.. Yes, we do sell coreg data below industry rates, and there is value in doing so, but we also carry the largest selection of data available. We even have a live coreg data feed that comes in daily too. But I know people are really big on the SEO these days...

Now, if you can do SEO real good... how long does it take to get things started where you would be happy with the income you generate? 3 months? 6 months? A lot of companies can't wait for this kind of wait for a turn-around. Let me hear some optinions...

Often people ask how we are able to offer genuine optin data for so cheap.. A lot of times it will be the same database offered at a competing site for only 30% of the price... It's because we have a low overhead, low advertising budget, we're not greedy, and because of this we can pass along the savings to our clients.

    Thanks,

SEO or SEA? an important difference i think.

About ranking: as long as you're in the top 4 you'll have an even chance of getting clicked.
If you really want to track your conversions generated by SEO i think google adwords is the best option because it is way easier to track you generated traffic. Also you pay per click. With optin you pay per per data-load.

With SEO it can indeed take months before the results become apperant.

What is the average response rate of those optin systems?

It would be interesting to do a split half study and compare the amount of conversions as a result of emails with that of SEA/SEO. But this is different for every client i guess. In the end,,, it's all about conversions and the bottom line.

I do agree at the end it is not the pagerank that matters the most but also the total sales you've generated is more important.

Why not do both email marketing and SEO. Email marketing will give immediate results and SEO takes time particularly in competitive niches, so a short term and long term plan is needed for marketing.

SEO is probably what you should focus on more. It will deliver results in the long run making it a more efficient marketing decision. However depending on the business type, email marketing can be very profitable.

In the end SEO will deliver more sales if done right

Email marketing is only as good as your list. And if anyone knows how to get a great, targeted list, let me know.

The success of any marketing campaign depends on reaching the right target audience. For example, direct mail that is irrelevant to the recipient is considered junk mail, and unwanted email messages are considered spam. It’s important to get the right info like, updated business contact information including corporate email addresses and direct phone numbers. The quality of the contacts is sure to reflect in your marketing campaigns, So it’s best to search for sales leads through a business directory.

The ultimate thing is to generate business. Whether it is from email marketing or from SEO. email marketing is good until it is not marked as spam.
