Here are some ideas on how to use twitter for marketing -
1. Engage your CEO in social media
2. Keep in touch with bloggers / media
3. Monitor your company / brand on Twitter
4. Announce specials, deals or sale
5. Live updates on events or conferences
6. Promote blog articles, webinars, interesting news and more

I love twitter, and I've met some of the most inspirational people through it. My advice is try to relate, not to sell and you'll go big places.

Ty Torelli here, BBlackwood said it best - Do NOT use Twitter for over-spam. That is the quickest way to ruin your name or business. Twitter is the fastest growing Social Media forum on the net. It is projected to have over 50 million users by years end! If you are a business and you are NOT using Twitter, you will be left behind, QUICKLY!!
I work with businesses everyday coaching them ways to succeed online by using Social Media Outlets. Twitter is one of the best tools to use besides Facebook, MySpace, YouTube and blogs.
One thing that you need to understand and quick is: Its NOT the message but - How you deliver the message. Use Twitter like you would your cellphone or your neighbor. You would not send text messages to everyone saying "HEY!! Buy my product" right?
Think of Twitter and other Social Media sites in the same way and you WILL go far. That I promise you. If you have any other questions or need help with whatever you are working on, feel free to DM me.
Ty

Twitter is an excellent source for advertising... don't knock it until you try it.

Forgot to mention one other thing -
You are able to install widgets onto your website or blog that will transfer your Tweets to your site. Just another way to update your visitors at one time without "updating" your webpage every few hours.

I am a newbie in Twitter, and i found it very interesting. I can read so many great ideas from people you're following and you can share them to your follower's too!
The more followers you have the more people get interested to you in what you are doing.. And at the same time they will look your links, blogs, websites to know more about you.

I absolutely do. I am not 100% sure how effective it is at this point, as I have no web analytics data on it right now, but I have been using it for several months now and don't see any harm spending a few minutes posting and reading the posts of others. In my opinion, marketing is marketing and it can't hurt.
