Deleting/ Hiding Bad Press on Google

So you have a good page ranking on google, but it isn't your website, and it is negative towards you or your company.

How do you remove or hide it?

Is this 'negative' information false?

The search engines will generally allow webmasters to remove negative information from the search results with the following two caveats:

1. It has to be a page or an entire site.

2. Only the actual owner of the site can make such a request.

You can also contact the websmaster of the site and request that the negative information be removed.

The negative information in this instance is perspective opinion (formed around an ongoing dispute) So in other words it is neither true nor false but biased.

The aim is damage limitation. The search result will not be removed by the owner.

If you're able to reply to this negative comment, such as on an opinions website or forum, engage in a clear, thought through discussion. If any prospective clients should see this, they should at least see both sides of the issue, and with a bit of luck side with you.

I had thought of that too, but unfortunately as it is the party in question's own website there is no facility to do so. I guess I have to take criticism on the chin.

In that case, how about analysing this page for keywords and phrases, and checking its search result rankings. Then, launch a bit of a defensive on those keywords, pushing this site down the rankings to it recieves much less publicity.

A good reputation is probably worth buying a few domain names and putting in some time for this.

Hey akula, I remember you. Will check out that company thanks. Ncik, that is what I had thought about doing. I would imagine that will take a considerable amount of time but should be worth it.
