Best way to drive traffic to your site?
http://thatsgottabefair.blogspot.com

That is my blog. What are some of the best ways to drive traffic to the site? Also, how do I make it appear on google search. It's supposed to be automatic, but maybe subdomains don't appear? I have my own domain names for sites other than my blog but those are not up and runnng yet.

What are some ways that people get traffic in the beginning? --I don't want to spam forums, but it seems to be the way that is generating the most visitors for me. (I dont mean spam spam, i mean i'm getting traffic from my posts.)

Thanks.

Well, there are several decent ways to drive traffic to your site. The simple rule is be involved--which you are already doing by participating here.

The best way to spread your site is just to get yourself out there. Participate in forums, post to social media and list your blog in your profile, link to other bloggers in your posts to generate trackbacks, write guest posts for other bloggers and comment on larger blogs with similar subjects to generate links and get exposure. Commenting is big.

There are some services like Blog Rush (see my sites for a widget) that can get you traffic, but the best way is just to market it yourself by getting out there.

For Google, try going to Google Webmaster tools and go through the process to submit your site. This should only take a few minutes and will speed of the process of getting you indexed.

Hello rmartirosian
Look what I did to get more visitors on my website :I've got an online store and desperately need traffic, as business is running slow. I googled 'opt-in email advertising' and tested each week the companies I found there (used the first ones listed on that page) and got a lot of traffic, but the sales did not increase too much. Acceptable results I got for taketheinternetback.com where I paid 1000 emails for $15 and got not only traffic, but also some sales. I think that it was a good choice.
Good luck.

Here's some tips to get more traffic to your blog!

1. Make a youtube video in your niche.
2. Comment on other blogs. Some blogs have the application "top commentators" which may give you alot of traffic
3. (as someone said before) Make a few guest posts. It's really important that you offer quality posts.
4. Linkexchange?

Try google - it's alot of quality "how to get traffic" posts there.

Google ad words---effective although can be expensive if your not too sure what your doing as you will be charged per click that is everytime someone clicks on your link.

Traffic exchanges-- will get traffic but it will not be quality traffic as most of these traffic exchanges are run by paying thousands of wanna be internet
millionaires 1c to click on your ad.

email blasting-- will blast your email out to a million opt in subscribers to a site that no one would other wise go to other than to get free traffic,so again
in my opinion pretty much useless.

I think it really depends on how much money you have to burn, ultimately 50%
of what you spend either way will be wasted.

Web 2.0 traffic is big right now. Post on sites that allow user generated content such as article directories, sites that allow you to make a page on their sites like Squidoo and Hubpages, related forums and blogs.

As someone already said you go out their and participate.

What I usually do when I start a blog or site is I social bookmark the blog index or some of the posts.

Usually these bookmarking sites would show up in Google for whatever keyword you use as the title and you can get some traffic that way.

Then I just go to Google and type in the main keyword my site/blog is based on and look for any sites that would allow me to 'participate' - could be giving a comment or submitting content or something and I just get my link on to these sites in the best way I could.

There's a lot of options so keep getting ideas on traffic.

After reviewing your code. Here is TWO BIG PROBLEMS YOY HAVE.

No 'meta description'

No 'meta keywords'

Search engines need these things.

Also beif up the title add some more content to it.

Also have you created a sitemap. xml sitemap for google yet. if not this should be done.

have you checked you site for broken links.

Both of these can be done for free by google'ing it.

links heading back to your site also helps a lot. there are tons of free directories and much more to get better rankings.

over all you need some seo work but continue the great job.

The way I did it and I think you can too, I started making a few flyers and posting them around town. A breifing of my product and directions to the website. I quickly refined into postcards and business cards that I made into a little ad with my website on it.

The postcards I mailed out to researched people on the net. Magazines, companies, doctors etc. These postcards got me many spots in magazines and sales worldwide in about a year and a half from absolute scratch. I just wanted to be different than a standard press release. TV appearances have also been considered from postcards. I expect those to come through very shortly.

I hand wrote the address on to make it more custom and bring intrigue. The reader will say, how did this guy get my name and why send to me. I thought they would more likely read. I also placed a stamp instead of bulk mail. Made it seem "to someone" instead of mass mailing, junk mail. It worked and I will never stop no matter how big I get.

I sent a postcard to Popular Mechanics, they did a story. Entrepreneur Magazine and Inc Magazine, all the editors got two or three postcards (probably sick of seeing them). Entrepreneur Magazine contacted me last week for all my information to be ready for a story.

Make postcards and for you I would say, mail to colleges, newspapers, news shows and magazines. You have a rare story, just offer the public something they can take home and use themselves, a good lesson and you may get some free publicity. Keep up the good work!

how to get traffic to your site:

1) SEO (which a free host is horrible for)
2) Get backlinks like a mofo (which goes along with SEO)
3) Make friends in the right places with the right traffic to send you
4) add boobs.
