its important to blog about a certain niche that you enjoy or have a good understanding of. Once you start this, then promote your site through forums like this one and include the link as your signature. But make sure that you continue to write as much as you can on different sites.. Once you create a presence on the forums then people will want to go on your site to see what you say.. Oh make sure your blog is updated atleast twice a day... people want updated information..

New member on this forum so I cant post any links but you can visit my blog at my name .com.

All of last year I did blogging purely for practicing writing. I did it for a year and have built an enormous archive regarding my experiences as an entrepreneur. 2009 I shifted my blog off the online hosted wordpress platform and onto my own.

When I researched this topic of marketing your blog the same things keep coming up:

1. Comment on other blogs in your niche
2. Use forums
3. Get listed in directories
4. Use social networks heavily (twitter, facebook, myspace)
5. Get SEO help if possible
