AdWords Help/Suggestions
I just started using AdWords for my site. I am number on google for the keyword "daily quote text message" and have a blog and myspace account set-up. I'm not spending too much, just the minimum $10 prepaid to see what it's like while I learn how to best use it.
Are there any good reads on how to best use AdWords? Is there any better way to do it or am I overthinking this? For those of you who use it, what are your thought, good or bad.
Also, why doesnt this forum have stickies!

I will try and think about this project of yours and will try and get my head around how to move it forward,i have to say i am finding this one very hard to work out who would use it and that is the bit that worries me.How are you getting on regarding the amount of people signing up etc so far.Adwords is my main vehicle of choice when 1st promoting a site to kick start it then move on to just organic growth another good one is Miva and as you are in the States yahoo do a version also.
As this system is provided free of charge on the net i am wondering why would anyone pay albeit a very small amount to get a text version and that is the bit i am having worries with,i would have said a daily horoscope would have been more appealing and when the customer joins the system they not only provide there mobile no but also there birthday details so that you can provide that days horoscope.
Only a suggestion and hope it goes well for you.

Well it is just a little project to get another thing running. I knew it would be hard to get sign-ups but its just the organizing and getting all the kinks out that I want from this project.
I want to use TheDailyTxt name to launch a horoscope, word of the day and a few unique ones too that are not around/available.

My business partner put together a series of free AdWords videos at Online4Offline. I've told him we should wrap them up and sell them as a product, but he's happy letting others learn for free.

you may be first for "daily quote text message", but being realistic how many people really search that. Next to none would be my guess. Your gonna have to focus on forums and word of mouth for spreading word about your site.

and if you are using adwords then invest some time, if not money on how to write effective ads and how it all relates to the keywords chosen, capture page sent to, etc, etc

Using keyword categories is the best way to go. Don't just cram a ton of keywords into a list and expect results. Use rival company names, top recruiter's name, or different keywords that are relevant to the content you are advertising. Keyword categories means creating groups you are targeting and the keywords that apply to each group. Each of the examples above would get its own group. To start, pick one category per ad and stick with it, then run the same ad with another group and see which one works best. Find as many keyword variations as you can.
I like to use wordtracker for keywords, but there are other free services out there like goodkeywords, overture, and digitalpoint. Keywords can make or break your Adwords campaign so be sure to pick highly targeted ones. For a more advances course on this check out Perry Marshall's e-book "definitive guide to Google Adwords."
