I think the reason why Oprah's talk show is so successful compared to the others is that she focuses on personal growth, spirituality, family relationships and fixing social problems.

These topics are important to women, and that's why her fanbase is almost 100% women. They see her as a positive role model, and an inspiration.

Whereas Jerry Springer appeals to the lowest common denominator, and brings out the worst in people, Oprah appeals to people's decency and values, and brings out the best in people.

In a way, she is a social entrepreneur. And that's why she's so successful.

No matter what you want to say about Oprah, she is the most successful woman in my lifetime, and probably will not be duplicated again, so is she an entrenpreneur, who cares, she is a successful business woman, and that is the bottom line.

She can make or break a company with her endorsement or opposite, so talk about a powerful person in business, none come close to Oprah. In fact, Obama wouldn't be elected if not for Oprah's intitial boost. Fortunately, she endorsed one the businesses I work dealing with children abductions safety protection and educational services, so talk about powerful boost to awareness of important issues, she is tops in my book, and has paved the way for another successful business venture.

Like her or not, she has made more successful entrepreneurs than anyone else I can think of, so even if some want to say she is not an entrepreneur, who cares, she can sure make entrepreneurs. Look at how many start up entrepreneurs she has helped by being on her show, I can recall dozens, so I for one want to say thank you Oprah, maybe not for Obama, but for all the entrepreneurs who have great products or services which cannot break into market without millions, or the help of Oprah. lol

I think the discussion of whether Oprah is an entrepreneur or not has little value. The bottom line is that she is a tremendously successful individual who has touched millions of lives.
